先日行われた舞天(ブーテン)ライヴを、1曲ごとに振り返る。
3曲目。
作曲はタカツカアキオ。
暴徒化した客もこの曲ばかりはうっとりと聴きほれ、しばしモナレコードはトランキルな時を過ごした。
今回の選曲は基本的に出口信一へお任せしたんだが、タカツカアキオが小泉今日子さんに作った「Nobody can,but you」ではなく、この曲を選んだのは意外だった。
トランキル・オーヴァーの頃に歌っていたこの曲、今回舞天で歌うことになり、日本語で新しい歌詞を書いてみようかな、と思った。
だけれども、もう、この曲にはこの歌詞しかないのよ。
もう、しっかり一体化しておる。
swallowは「飲み込む」という意味。
「自然というものは優しい流れを作っている。でもそれは私たちを飲み込んでしまう。影があなたを覆う。それは私も同じ。私たちは飲み込まれた希望を共有しているんだ。悲しみを吹き飛ばそう。不幸な夢はもう来ない。私たちが飲み込まれた希望を共にしているなら」」
なんて、これは直訳だども、swalloeed hopeは「胸に秘めてある思い」と考えればいいのかな、と思っている。
ロックというものは圧倒的に抒情詩が多い、でも、この曲の前半は叙景詩のようであり、そこが好きだ。

今回は、イントロとアウトロに、シーナ&ロケッツ「ユー・メイ・ドリーム」とプラスチックス「copy」の一節を盛り込んだ。
シーナと中西俊夫への追悼だ。
